How did I get here?
Let’s go back in time…
In mid-2023, I started seeing and hearing information about the use of amniotic tissue allografts in regenerative medicine. It was popping up on different social media feeds, articles, and through word of mouth. At the time, I had been using PRP and adipose-derived stem cell therapy, but everyone kept saying this was different. I’ve always been intrigued by regenerative medicine and the idea of giving the body the ingredients it needs to heal itself.
I began slowly and intermittently researching this “amniotic tissue allograft.” As I was reading and talking about it, I couldn’t help but feel like my phone was “listening and sending me ads”, because I was suddenly being exposed to multiple companies offering amniotic tissue allografts.
Not long after I began my research, I was visited at my clinic by a representative from one of the big three companies in the market. He explained amniotic tissue allografts and gave me a few samples to try. At that time, I set them aside and continued with my traditional treatments—I wasn’t completely ready to take the dive.
A few months later, my local veterinary medical association (VMA) hosted a meeting with another amniotic tissue allograft company. They presented the science and shared multiple case studies on a variety of injuries and diseases. I left that meeting thinking, “This stuff treats everything—why do I need any other medication on my shelf?” I also had that “too good to be true” feeling.
That meeting re-sparked my interest, and I took a deep dive into the three veterinary amniotic tissue allograft companies. I quickly started leaning toward one: AlphaFlo®. There were several reasons for this:
#1. The other two companies used equine amnion, whereas AlphaFlo® used canine amnion.
#2. The other companies processed their product through lyophilization (freeze-drying), a method that carries a higher risk of denaturing proteins. AlphaFlo® cryopreserves its product, maintaining protein stability.
#3. As a simple person, I appreciated AlphaFlo®’s single preparation: a frozen liquid that you defrost and inject. The other companies offered multiple product variations—dry sheets, various injectables, and topicals—which created unnecessary confusion. Their SKU lists were just too long.
I wanted a simple, high-quality product. I found it: AlphaFlo®.
I had one last task to complete before finalizing my decision—I wanted to talk to the scientist. So, in November 2023, I picked up the phone and spoke with Christian Beaudry, Chief Scientific Officer and Co-founder. He thoroughly explained canine amniotic tissue allografts, the biologically active proteins, their functions in the body, and the clinical indications for tissue supplementation. After that call, I immediately set up an account and placed my first order.
From that day forward, I integrated AlphaFlo® into my practice and have never looked back. Case after case yielded amazing results. I tell my colleagues that I can justify using this product on virtually any pet that walks into my clinic. The tissue-supporting benefits are that impressive! I often reflect on that day I walked out of the VMA meeting, and I can now confirm: “This stuff is genuinely good and truly effective.”
Over the following few years, I developed an incredible working relationship with Christian Beaudry and Ginger Johnson, Chief Distribution Officer and Co-founder. We shared information, research, and case studies. They also learned more about my company, DrMark.Vet, and the consulting side of my business. As I continued to see the benefits of AlphaFlo® in my patients, I wanted to share this product with other veterinarians and pet owners. I wanted veterinarians to appreciate the results I saw, and I wanted pets everywhere to experience the same benefits.
