Case Presentation: On May 4, 2022, a two-year-old, spayed female German Shepherd Mix presented with a large wound/ laceration on the sternum. On initial presentation, the patient required tension relieving sutures, as the wound could not be completely closed. The patient was treated with antibiotics and NSAIDs at the initial visit. The injury persisted and dehiscence of the suture site occurred three additional times.
On May 27, 2022, 23 days after the initial treatment, 2.0 cc of AlphaFlo® was implanted at the discretion of the veterinarian. The product was distributed subcutaneously around the non-healing wound edges.
On June 6, 2022, only 10 days following the AlphaFlo® implantation, the wound was contracting, and epithelial tissue was migrating over a healthy granulation bed. The wound had significantly decreased in size.
On June 24, 2022, 28 days following the AlphaFlo® implantation, the chest laceration was completely epithelialized and clinically resolved.
